About
My name is Caleb Smith. I am a software developer, data scientist, and physicist. I specialize in automation and data processing, visualization, and analysis using Python, C++, and Bash.
I develop and implement solutions to hard problems to provide value to my team. I am an experienced, persistent, and creative problem solver. I enjoy solving difficult problems using analytical thinking, pencil/paper, whiteboard, computers, and programming.
My background is in experimental high-energy physics (aka particle physics).
I did physics research for about ten years as a collaborator on the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at CERN. The CMS experiment pushes the boundaries of the high-energy physics frontier by collecting and analyzing proton-proton collision data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the highest-energy particle collider ever!
I am a curious learner, researcher, and teacher. I love the learning process, and I am continuously trying to learn new things and improve my skills.
I like working on a team towards a common goal. I strive to be loving, kind, patient, and encouraging towards other people.
I live in Lawrence, Kansas, with my wife and daughter. ❤️
